Q: What ages can attend the Queenford Farm Adventure Camps in Oxfordshire?

A: Our ‘Little Explorer’ camps are for children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. Our ‘Adventurer’ camps are suitable for children in school Years 3-8 (although for May and Summer Adventures as long as they are 7 they can attend even if still in Year 2).

Q: What ages can attend the Residential Expeditions?

A: This depends on the individual expeditions but we have expeditions for ages 9-16. More information can be found on our Expeditions page.

Q: Can children with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) attend our Queenford Farm Adventure Camps and Expeditions?

A: We welcome all children, regardless of any special educational needs to attend and fully participate in our camps and expeditions. If your child has a disability which may impact their participation of some activities please get in touch with us in advance to assess their level of need and requirements. Some camps or expeditions may be more suited for certain children so if you are in any doubt it is best to get in touch with us and we can talk you through the details. In order to support your child so they get the most out of our camps and expeditions we do ask for as much information as possible on the booking form (and if needed a phone call or email).

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

A: If you cancel at least 4 weeks before the start of the course then we will refund you in full. After this point we can only offer a refund if we manage to re sell the place.

Q: Can I get a refund if my child is sick on the day?

A: We are unable to offer a refund for children who are sick on the day. This is a small family business and we cannot absorb lots of last minute refunds. If we can fill the place last minute we will of course refund that day in full.

Q: Do you offer a discounts for NHS workers and the military?

A: Yes if you hold a Blue Light Card or Defence Discount Card we can offer 15% off any booking. This only applies to your children. Please enter BLUELIGHT or DEFENCE at checkout to redeem this discount. You then need to email your card to info@theoxfordboatadventure.co.uk for the booking to be approved.

Q: Do children need to be able to swim?

A: All children attending an ‘Adventurer’ Queenford Farm camps and all Expeditions will need to be able to swim. All children wear buoyancy aids while on the water. Children attending our ‘Little Explorers’ Queenford Farm camps are not expected to be confident swimmers. When they visit the Island on the raft and when they go out Dingy Rowing, they wear a buoyancy aid and are with a member of staff at all times.

Q: What food is provided at the Queenford Farm Camps?

A: Parents should provide a packed lunch, 2 suitable snacks and a water bottle with a covered mouthpiece. Please note we are a nut free course. Some of our Adventures include food, for example pizza on the Island and marshmallows round the fire. We do cater for all dietary needs but please ensure any allergies are included in the booking form when prompted so we can plan for them.

Q: What time does the Queenford Farm day start and end?

A: Drop off is between 8.45 - 9.00am and pick up is 4.30pm.

Q: What happens if it rains?

A: Being outside in all weather conditions is very much part of the experience. There will be plenty of covered places to dry off and get warm during any wet spells. In the event of a thunderstorm everybody will take cover in a safe place until it is safe to resume activities.

Q: What facilities does Queenford Farm have?

A: Children will have access to toilets and a safe indoor area where they can keep their belongings and shelter if there is a bad weather.

Q: Are all the staff DBS checked?

A: Yes, all our staff are carefully vetted for their suitability to work with children and required to hold an Enhanced DBS check.

Q: What other safeguarding measures are there in place?

A: Safeguarding and Child Protection are our top priority when designing and running the course. All staff undertake safeguarding training prior to working on our courses. Our Safeguarding Officer is Amelia Wright (Tel 07979 592753) and all safeguarding/child protection concerns should be directed to her. Staff also undergo a first aid course prior to the first day of the course. We have several qualified first aiders on our team. The nearest AED is in the cricket pavilion on the recreation ground in Dorchester on Thames, 300 yards over the bridge from the farm.
